Gestalt is based on the idea that the human brain will attempt to simplify and organize complex images or designs that consist of many elements, by subconsciously arranging the parts into an organized system that creates a whole. There are 6 kinds of gestalt, and they are: proximity, continuation, similarity, closure, symmetry and figure/ground. Out of my 36 squares, I picked the one that is proximity and playful. The squares are close together to form a playful relationship that makes a smiley face.
