Color is the light we see with our eyes. Light from the sun is made up of the colors of the rainbow, and our eyes can see the light that bounces off an object. For example, when light shines on a red pen all the colors are being absorbed except for red. For the CMY color wheel, its primaries are cyan, magenta and yellow. Its secondary colors are red, green and blue. Its tertiaries are seafoam, chartreuse, vermilion, mauve, magenta-blue, and a light blue. For my project, I used a dolphin picture I got off of Pexels and uploaded it to Photoshop. I used the object selection tool to select the dolphin and masked it so only the dolphin is seen. I used the ellipse tool to make a circle around the dolphin to use as a guide. Then I made 12 copies and put then around the central dolphin, labelling them like an analog clock. I added a color balance layer and clipped it to each dolphin layer and changing their colors, starting with the primary colors, then secondaries, and tertiaries. I hid the circle I made and added a water background. Overall I really like how it came out it's pretty cute.

Mandala Color Harmony Seafoam.png

Color harmonies are colors that work together. There are complementary, triad, square, and more color harmonies used in art.

For my mandalas, I used monochromatic and analogous color harmonies. I used a monochrome blue and two analogous harmonies with warmer colors like red and orange and magenta.

Personally, I like the mandala with orange, red and magenta. The transition looks really pretty.

For this project, I picked up a round bird on a pretty tree branch from Pexels. The original colors were a magenta type color, with some orange and blues with green. It's giving a very nice cute friendly vibe, especially with the little round bird. I changed the flower and bird colors to a pretty cherry blossom pink and nice orange-red color respectively because I wanted to give it a cute innocent vibe, like the original. Changing the color changed the mood by making it go from a more realistic to a fairytale vibe. Like a nice cute dream about a bird greeting you. Personally I love it a lot.

For my revised piece I choose to revise the vector cartoon character with a totally different character. The one on the left is the original his name is Cove Holden, he was the first vectorized character, the right is the new one. I choose Micah Yujin from Error 143. I followed the same steps as Cove. I choose a different character because I wanted to do someone new. I learned that you should use tools to make the process more easier.
